Applique in Progress

I thrifted this tank top a while ago meaning to alter it in some way. Originally I was going to do doilies or lace, but I saw this fabric from the Folk Dance Quilt I'm working on and grabbed it instead. Making something new after midnight is a special kind of fun. :)

Denim Quilts for the Boys

I keep going back and forth between cleaning and organzing my craft studio (!!!) and actually crafting.

Having a dedicated space is an amazing dream. So all the projects in my head are starting to come out.
This is not just because I have a space, but because I am now VERY aware of how much space my craft supplies take up. And I want room to think and dream in the studio, not be crowded out from the beginning. So besides organizing and donating supplies, I am making a focused effort to finish WIPs and do the projects I already have supplies for. Hence the quilt cutting for a second and third quilt before my first one is finished.
Cleaning Out and Moving In

I have been cleaning out my craft closet...finding old WIPs and taking a moment to finish them.
Weaving in all the loose ends. Decluttering my brain.
And the other night, around 1am, I tried out these wire ribbon flowers via Craft: I'm not really a pink or purple shiny girl, so I'm not sure where these will be going yet, but they were fun. I didn't even sew them, just wrapped them with the pulled out wire.Thursday, April 23, 2009
English Paper Piecing and Trees

This is my s l o w l y growing English paper pieced top. I dream of spending time off and on over the years, making a truly magnificent quilt. But then reality sets in and I think it will be a pillow cover. I was introduced to paper piecing at the Grand Rapids Craft Club event put on by Jennifer of CraftSanity. I didn't really think I'd like it, but I love combining the little bits of other projects. The solids (along with the stripe and ruler) are all left over pieces of ribbon from a headband making extravaganza I've yet to show you. And now I'm adding some left-overs from my pillowcase tops I made a few weeks ago that I -also- need to show you. I really love the idea of this having pieces of every fabric project I do over a certain period of time. It's great for when I want to make something, but not necessarily "feeling creative" with ideas from scratch.
I also cut more little hexagons to stitch on. Does anyone know where to get a hexagon punch? I'd love one!!

P.S. Here's a mosaic I made yesterday of some fav. Flickr tree inspirations. Love the trees, the leaves, the colors, the buttons, everything!

Crayons, Feathers, and Stitching

Last night while the kids colored I took one of Brodie's old pages and put it in my inspiration book because I loved the mix of colors. Then I attached 2 of their craft feathers to it with some yellow floss. So simple, but I like it a lot. Later, while watching last night's Chuck, I stitched some edging around some scrapbook pages after being inspired by Elsie Flannigan's scrapbooks.
Will keep trying for better photos. My house is so dark, but the sun is finally here!

Creative Every Day Challenge 2009

I've joined the Creative Every Day Challenge started by artist, Leah Piken Kolidas. I'm excited, as I think I do this already everyday anyway, but think it will help keep me on track with posting pictures and blogging. Her blog, and the Flickr group.
Here's a little patch/brooch I made celebrating Spring. I see more of those little felt feathers in my future.
